Rehearse ("the app", "we", "us") is developed by Emre Hanaz. This policy explains what the app does and does not collect when you use it, and why. If anything here is unclear, write to support@rehearse.site.
When you practice an answer, Rehearse records audio only to transcribe it, using Apple's speech recognition. Wherever your iPhone supports on-device recognition for your language (including English on current iPhones), the audio is transcribed entirely on your iPhone. For a language your iPhone cannot recognize on-device, and only if "On-device only" is switched off in Settings, iOS itself may send the audio to Apple to be transcribed; that is handled under Apple's privacy terms. Rehearse never uploads your audio, never stores it after the session ends, and never sends it to us or to any other third party — not even to score your answer.
Rehearse can score your answers in two ways:
You can require on-device-only scoring at any time in Settings → Voice & speech, so no text is ever sent to Google or anyone else.
Technical-mode practice includes an optional "Run" button. If you choose to use it, the code you wrote — and anything you typed as its input — is sent directly from your iPhone to Piston (emkc.org), a free, public code-execution service, solely to run it and return the output to you. This is separate from cloud scoring: it does not pass through our server, and nothing else about you or your session is included. Piston is not affiliated with Rehearse; we don't control what it does with the request beyond running it. The app asks your permission, in plain language, the first time you tap "Run".
Your interview profile, practice sessions, transcripts, scores, and Answer Bank entries are stored on your iPhone using Apple's on-device storage (SwiftData). If you are signed in to iCloud, Rehearse also syncs this data through your private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit) so it appears on your other devices. That data lives in your own iCloud account under Apple's terms; we do not have access to it and it is not copied to our servers. You can permanently delete your data at any time from Settings → Privacy → "Delete all my data".
The Library can show interview questions that other candidates reported ("I was actually asked this"). Browsing sends the role (and company, if you type one) you are looking at to our server, without any account or identifier. If you choose to submit a question, the question text, its role and optional company are sent to our server and reviewed before anything is shown to others. Please do not include personal information in a submission.
This version of Rehearse does not send usage analytics to us or to anyone else. We receive anonymous crash and performance diagnostics only through Apple's MetricKit and App Store Connect, not linked to your identity or used to track you across other apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers and there is no App Tracking Transparency prompt, because we don't track. If we ever add anonymous analytics, we will update this policy first.
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We never see your payment details. When you use cloud scoring, the app sends Apple's signed purchase record to our server so it can verify you have an active subscription. The record carries a random identifier generated for your installation (not your name or Apple ID); our server keeps only a per-day request count against that identifier to enforce fair-use limits. It is not linked to your name or Apple ID from our side.
Rehearse is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 16.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and, where required, notify you in the app.
